My Process

All of my pieces start with wax.

I work with both soft and hard wax—each with its own character and response to touch. The soft wax, warmed by my hands, becomes pliable, moulded into form, hardening again with the cold. The hard wax, I carve, cut, and melt with hand tools, shaping it with precision. This material, in its essence, is temporal and sensitive. Its form is easily compromised by too much heat, pressure, or touch. Impressionable, it can be rebuilt as easily as it is undone, capturing the fleeting moments of creation.
